TRIP TO MOROCCO 06 DAYS/05 NIGHTS 13-18 APRIL 2024

Flight to Marrakech. Arrival and transfer to our hotel. Check in the rooms and 2- 3 hours of rest.
In the afternoon departure for a first acquaintance with the enchanting Marrakesh.
We will go to the famous Jemaa El Fna square, the “Square of Miracles”. Jamaa El Fna is the symbol of Marrakech, where daily unfolds a magical spectacle, composed of outdoor makeshift stalls, snake charmers, storytellers, witches, always in combination with the hundreds of shops that spring up in the most unlikely corners of the souks. And now it would be the time to enjoy the most beautiful sunset of Marrakesh from a rooftop bar on the square with a cocktail in hand….

Breakfast and we leave cosmopolitan Marrakech through the Grand Atlas and depart, via an impressive mountain route, for the Desert Gate: Ouarzazate.
The legendary Ouarzazate, taken out of an Arabic wandering tale, starts at the southern end of the Great Atlas, where mountains meet desert. This desert stronghold city in the past was a small stop for caravan traders; Today it has two of the most beautiful kasbahs in Morocco, Taurit, with its towers rising from traditional houses, and Ait Ben Haddou.
We will see both but we will explore the stunning Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah; a fortress of sand…. a revelation of pure beauty, a graceful ensemble of adobe kasbahs listed UNESCO World Heritage site overlooking the Ounila Valley.
We will climb to the highest point of the castle, zigzag through its uphill dirt paths, between the low reddish-brown houses, to admire the breathtaking view of the impressive palm tree forest that spreads on the one hand and the vastness of the desert on the other.
Just outside the entrance of the city, on a part of the plateau, is the base of an old military unit. There are now film studios there that have been the backdrops for many films. During our visit here we will find out about all the great hits of cinema that were filmed here, such as “Lawrence of Arabia”, “Gladiator”, “Babel” and the TV series “Game of Thrones”.
Full of sights and smells we will spend the night in a hotel in Ouarzazate to rest.

Today we reutun back to the colourful, vibrant Marrakech.
Arrival to Marrakesh early afternoon…. Free time by your own, which you can spent indulging in an endless array of activities – shop in the exotic souks, relax in a hammam, visit one of the gardens, visit a museum…
Optional: One hour from Marrakech stands the village of Agafay. Along the road, the small Berber villages, hanging from the rock, blend into the landscape blessed with breathtaking natural beauty. There we will enjoy a camel ride and a cup of tea with the locals before we head back to Marrakesh.

Breakfast and time to get to know the Marrakech more. We will sto at the Koutoubia mosque (externally) , and admire the city walls, visit the beautiful El Bachia Palace, and the Saadi tombs. We will also visit the Dar Si Aid Museum of Moroccan Art and the famous gardens of the Majorelle, owned by Yves Saint Laurent.
Rest of the day free for strolling in the souks or enjoying a spa at the hotel.
In the evening, after dinner, we recommend the folklore show with drinks at ChezAli or why not to go for a drink to one of the 2 most fantastic and famous hotels in the world, Mamounia and Royal Mansour.

Breakfast and departure for the seaside town of Essaouira. Where the argan trees grow, from which the expensive argan oil comes out.
The route is indifferent, about 2H45m, unless we are lucky and see a whole herd of goats on the branches of the trees hanging like Christmas balls! Incredible sight!! If time permits, we will visit a women’s cooperative to see the processing of argan.
The name Essaouira means image, and really this town, is a delight for the eyes and the spirit. Huge medieval walls try, like a barrier, to protect it from the rushing waves of the Atlantic, literally thousands of seagulls dancing over the sea and waiting next to the fishing boats for their treat. It’s blue and white buildings are in stark contrast to Marrakech´s sand coloured pise constructions. The medina is both colourful and relaxed, a wonderful place to wander around the souks and visit the art galleries and boutiques. It is also gaining a reputation as a gastro centre, with new niche restaurants opening seemingly every week.

This artists’ town was once home to sizeable British and Jewish populations, and its charm has seduced people like Orson Welles and Jimi Hendrix, who (according to local legend) spent much of his time here in the 1960s. It is still the most important centre of Moroccan artistic creation, with many painters and artists.
There will be enough time to stroll around, shop, visit the galleries have lunch…
Late in the afternoon return to the hotel.
Dinner and free time to say “goodbye “to this vibrant city which has already stolen our heart.

Breakfast and transfer to the airport for our return flight back home. What an amazing trip that was! Morocco will stay in our hearts for ever!
